AGM Notice

The Grindrod Garlic Festival Society Annual General Meeting will be held on 

October 2, 2018 at the Grindrod Elementary School in Grindrod. 

Doors will open at 6:00pm for a volunteer appreciation and the AGM will begin promptly at 7:00pm. 

Volunteers, please join at 6:00pm to give us a chance to say thank you for all your hard work and commitment.

The membership, past and present, and the public are invited to attend the AGM. 

The election has director positions open to be filled. 

The Grindrod Garlic Festival governance committee is encouraging nominees with the skills and experience in finance, legal and sponsorship to apply. The Board of Director elections will be held during the AGM.

Hello Vendors!

We are excited to welcome you to the 9th Grindrod Garlic Festival on August 19, 2018! 

Here is a short update with some important information for you as you get ready for the Festival.


Set Up

Vendors must set up between 6:00 am and 8:00 am on the day of the Festival. Plan to arrive early, especially if you have a large vehicle or trailer: set up must be completed by 8:30 am. 

Please check in with the Festival Coordinator as you enter to confirm your assigned vendor space. Placement is at the discretion of the Festival Coordinator. 

To accommodate more vendors, we have created an interior section. If you are assigned to the interior section, you must remove your vehicle by 8 am and park in the designated vendor parking.

Vendors in the perimeter section can park a vehicle immediately behind their vendor stall.

Vendor spaces are approximately 10x10 feet and vendors are asked to remain within their designated spaces. The space is marked by dots which mark the front of your tent and your stall # in the middle.

Vendors are responsible for their own protection from the elements, for all materials and equipment required for their booths, and for ensuring such materials and equipment are secure in all weather conditions. The Grindrod Garlic Festival Society and organizers are not liable for any damage caused by vendor installations, materials or equipment.

Food vendors with a food cart are required to provide a copy of their temporary or mobile food service permit. Others need an (updated) FoodSafe certificate (as from this year on they’re only valid for 5 years). Vendors who sell high risk foods are required to have a permit from interior health (letter of approval).

Vendors are expected to treat each other, patrons, Society directors, volunteers and the Festival Coordinator with respect and common courtesy. The Festival Coordinator has final authority on the day of the Festival.


Vendor Participation & Festibucks

Just a reminder that each vendor is asked to provide an item or product sample for participation in a silent auction or for use as a prize for contests held during the Festival. Please have your item with a business card ready around 8 am. A volunteer will come around to pick up the Item.

You are encouraged and invited to submit entries in the garlic braiding, herb, vegetable, photography, art and other contests! 

Grindrod Garlic Festival organizers give out “Garlic Festibucks” to volunteers and as prizes. Vendors are asked to accept Festibucks at their booths in lieu of cash and to redeem them at the at the end of the day at the Rocky Ridge Farm Garlic Booth.

HELP!! We can always use more volunteers on the day of the Festival for setting up contests, taking judging entries, setting up art displays etc. If you or friends and relatives can spare an hour or two to help on Festival day it would be greatly appreciated.

Take Down

The Festival opens to the public at 9 am and closes at 4 pm. Vendors must wait until the bell rings at 4.00 pm to begin taking down their stalls. 

If you have your vehicle parked in the parking lot you can drive in to pack up at 4:15, not before!

Vendors can drive out at 4.20 as directed by parking staff!

We rent the Park location and provide a damage deposit. Every vendor is responsible for leaving their space in immaculate condition.

Vendor receipts have been emailed. If you need a receipt because you did not get one, please come to Ian at the Rocky Ridge Farm Garlic Booth before you leave. 

We are also interested in your feedback about the Festival while the experience is fresh in your mind.


We are full with a wait list this year, despite adding vendor spots. 


Keep this in mind for next year and get your applications with payment in early!


You will find the 2019 application forms on our website by December, we will not send out application forms next year!



Thank you for supporting the Grindrod Garlic Festival this year! 


As your board, we continue to try to keep the Festival fresh and interesting, while renewing the most popular events. 

This year we added a Paint and Sip workshop while keeping the very popular Garlic Braiding workshop. 

Thanks to the financial sponsorship of the Enderby & District Arts Council, we were able to participate in Music By the River and once again include live music with a performance by Caroline Anele and Friends. 

If you have ideas for adding to the Festival, feel free to share with us!

The goal of the Grindrod Garlic Festival is to improve our environmental sustainability. 

Every year we are committed, where possible, to adopt practices that reflect sustainable principles and best practices.
